For the past 30 years, Esperanza Internacional’s mission has been to free families from poverty and share the Hope of Christ. Their comprehensive approach includes providing communities with access to capital, preventative healthcare, education, and financial services. A large part of their work is providing micro and small business loans to entrepreneurs and families outside of the formal financial sector.


They see potential in their borrowers, and invest in the dreams of those who are under-served, unbanked, and ready to be equipped with tools to move them toward hope-filled futures.

Esperanza Internacional struggled with a legacy loan management system (LMS) that was outdated, slow, and costly. The on-premises solution required manual data entry and did not support mobile uploads, making the loan process inefficient and time-consuming. As the organisation grew, it became clear that their existing system could not support their expanding operations and diverse services.

The challenge was to streamline loan processing, improve data access, and integrate non-financial services to create a holistic service offering.

Esperanza Internacional partnered with Mambu and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to move to a cloud-based, API-driven platform that could handle their loan management and reporting needs more efficiently.

Mambu’s SaaS solution provided flexibility, scalability, and automation, allowing Esperanza to develop new loan products quickly and securely.

With Mambu’s feature-rich engine, Esperanza Internacional was able to configure solutions that met their specific needs, from loan disbursement to reporting and fraud prevention.

In just 6 months, Esperanza Internacional migrated to Mambu, streamlining loan management, reporting, and product development.

This transformation enabled them to reach more people, expand offerings, and better serve underserved communities. With Mambu’s continued support, they plan to innovate further and integrate advanced features like credit scoring to enhance their impact in the Dominican Republic.
